Installation contractors will choose lowest cost because it is in the short term interests of them and their client. In many cases they also rely on advice from their suppliers as to the most suitable specification, many of whom see the benefits in supplying material that won’t last. The only part of this chain that benefits from a higher tube specification is the end user – and even then only those sections that may need to find additional resources to finance replacements when material fails.
This is the hub of the problem because it drives down the quality of the tubing used.
Initial cost is not the only consideration. Pitted tube has implications on food safety and hygiene. Failed tube is a health and safety issue and factory downtime is costly. All cause major headaches for food manufacturers.

While un-annealed tubes are suitable for many installations, it is prone to stress corrosion cracking, the fully annealed hygienic tube is heat treated and provides users with resistance to stress cracking.
Every tube is pickled and passivated internally ensuring that any residual iron is removed from the manufacturing process and that the passive layer is renewed – general corrosion resistance and pitting corrosion resistance is much greater.
Uniquely, every tube is pressure tested and marked AFTER polishing to enable full traceability.
