Desmi products are distributed to more than 100 countries around the world.

They specialise in the development and manufacture of pump solutions for marine, industry, oil spill combating, defence and fuel. However, at HpE it is the Desmi Rotan chocolate pump that is extremely popular. The design of the pump means “new” chocolate is always flushing, especially around the rotating elements and internal bearings.

The pump is supplied for pumping chocolate, but it also used on other products where cleaning-in-place is not required. It can be used for vegetable oil, palm oil and fats. Its popularity is largely due to the minimal maintenance required due to a special gland and lip seal on the shaft.

Although the Rotan pump is a great solution for chocolate transfer, it is limited in maximum delivery pressure and pump speed. High pressures can cause separation of cocoa and oils, high rotational speeds can cause excess shear and caramelisation.
