September last year we shared news of building experiences for young engineers [https://www.hpeprocess.com/building-experience-for-young-engineers/], introducing Samad Rahis who joined the HpE team as an Applications and Project Engineer, as part of his sandwich course Mechanical Engineering BEng at the University of Huddersfield.
The last 12 months have passed very quickly, more so, as Samad has integrated himself seamlessly as part of an already existing tight knit team. Samad summarises his experience with HpE:
‘My one-year placement at HpE Process has been a truly amazing experience. I have had the pleasure of working in a company that supplies the food, pharmaceutical, and beverage industries allowing me to gain valuable insights and knowledge.
Managing projects from the very start to completion has been a fulfilling responsibility, allowing me to develop essential skills in project management and problem-solving. Being part of project meetings and site visits has provided me with a holistic understanding of the collaborative efforts required to achieve success in our actions.
Working with Solidworks has allowed me to enhance my skills and to create designs for clients. This has been an exciting and creative aspect of my role, bridging innovation with practical solutions.
I am immensely grateful for the support and guidance from my colleagues and mentors, who have played an essential role in shaping my professional growth.
Overall, my time at HpE Process has been a transformative journey and I am truly grateful for the opportunity whilst completing my final year’.
A university student placement is a two-way street, providing students the experience of working in industry and being able to apply their teachings over the years, as well as businesses being exposed to fresh young minds.
Khawar Aziz, Managing Director said ‘Having had personal experience of being on a Student Placement myself and the benefits it offers not just for the student, but to the business, it was an easy decision in particular Huddersfield, with being an alumnus.
Working with Samad during his placement has brought value to our business specifically in the direction of our 5-year plan.
After trying other avenues in the past, this has been our very first attempt at having a student on placement and I would say this has been our greatest success and will not be the last.
Samad’s persona; knowledge, expertise, and motivation to learn new skills and knowledge has been superb. Especially with Samad using what he has learnt at university over the last 2 years and applying it our business has been hugely advantageous to us learning how the latest technology can be applied to our workings and processes and added value to our product range.
The next few days will bring Samads placement to an end, but not his journey with HpE Process. Whilst he completes his final year he will work simultaneously with ongoing projects.
Everyone at HpE would like to wish him all the best for his final year.
