Some chilled yoghurt products have been recalled by supermarkets as they possibly contain pieces of rubber.
The affected products have been supplied to the following UK retailers: ASDA, Co-operative, Sainsbury, Tesco, Waitrose.
Such contamination often arises where pumps that rely on rotor / stator contact for transferring product (such as peristaltic, progressing cavity & Sinusoidal rotor designs) are used at “end of line”, or where contamination cannot be detected or screened.
Although some processes do need such pumps and where there is no other option, we will supply these types, but with additional controls & monitoring in order to reduce contamination risk. We at HpE Process, always recommend pumps that do not need rotor /stator contact in order transfer sensitive and solids laden products at end of process thereby eliminating the risk of such contamination at this Critical Control Point.
